Weekly Wisdom #8

There are few things more disappointing and anticlimactic then seeing a disc go up,  a player sprint down the entire length of field, and, with a last burst of energy, bid so that the disc lands barely in the tips of his outstretched hand, and then finding out that the throw was ten yards out the back of the end zone.

For this reason and more, knowing the dimensions of the ultimate pitch will not only save you from futile, energy wasting runs for out of bounds throws, but it will also make you that much more of a seasoned veteran of the sport - just think of the people you will impress when you whip out the exact measurements, complete with meter-to-yard conversions.

So here you have it, a complete overview of the ultimate pitch:

Field width...................................... 40 yards (37m)
Playing field proper........................70 yards (64m)
  (length minus the end zones)
Endzones..........................................25 yards (23m)
Brick mark........................................ 20 yards (18m)

There you have it.  We will be having a pop quiz when everyone is back.
