Invaders of the Great Lakes --

As we gear up for our first tournament, we thought that it would be beneficial to go over the marking violations that it is very likely we may encounter over the course of the weekend.  Know what they are, know when to call them, and know how to respond:

1.) FAST COUNT
Occurs when: the mark doesn't say "stalling" before they start counting, the mark is counting too fast, the mark is stupid and can't count and skips a number
2.) DOUBLE TEAM
Occurs when: There are more than 1 defenders within 3 meters of the throwers pivot, without another offensive player being within 3m.
3.) DISC SPACE
Occurs when: The defender is closer than 1 disc diameter away from the torso or pivot of the thrower.
4.) VISION BLOCKING:
Occurs when: The throwers vision is blocked.  obvs.

If any of these are called: PLAY DOES NOT STOP.  Repeat, PLAY DOES NOT STOP.  The violation must be corrected by the mark, and then they continue stalling at the last number minus one.  Also, take note that it is only the thrower that can call a marking violation.

For example...

Mark: Stalling one, two, three...
Thrower: DISC SPACE!!
Mark: (steps away nimbly) Stalling two, three, four....

I hope you all feel more wise, and ready to handle any marking violation that may come your way.  Get psyched for the weekend, Gobies.  See everyone at practice.
