Alumni Weekend 2013

FOGIES
OLD AND YOUNG

'Twas the night before Saturday, when all thro' the house,
There were creatures stirring, some even wearing a blouse;
The drinks were poured in glasses with care,
In hopes that the Boston car would soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of skying alums in their heads,
The alums partied on, giving the wine a slap,
before eventually passing out for a 3 hour nap-
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
The alums sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the door they flew like a flash,
realizing how late they were they had to dash.
The sun rising on the breast of new fallen snow,
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a hairy jared, which seemed so queer,
With the ol' fogies, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment the currents would take a lick.
but they slowed things down by throwing some folks so old and lame,
And they whistled, and shouted, and call'd them by name:
"Now! PK, now! Galen, now! Wendy, and Tan,
"On! Dima, on! Benish, on! Franz and Gan;
But after nearly scoring, it was clear they would fall!
Even with their wisdom they couldn't score at all!
Wendy said "fuck it" and stripped bare with a sigh,
And caught a score on Eli, after a hammer Mac let fly;
So the young alum came out to the field and flew,
With handling full of spin - and scoring plenty too:
And then in a twinkling, the ladies provided proof
That them scoring all day was not a goof.
As the game came to an end, all gathered around,
and their goby spirit was ooh'd and ahh'd until is was found:
now 24 cones stood, with some with fun under foot,
providing reason for everyone to stay put;
the poor currents didn't have time to look back,
As they were hit faster than a quality six pack:
but as the fun went down all grew merry,
with their cheeks, and nose colored like a cherry;
to the jolly scholar they took this show,
with appetizers and drink specials and additional coupons in tow!
To the fortress they stormed with their clattering teeth,
where the cigar smoke would encircle the porch like a wreath.
alums and current alike, would soon fill their belly
when jello discs would come out making their guts look like jelly:
the seniors won so chubby and plump, giggling like elves,
And we laugh'd when we saw them in spite of ourselves;
The pong, tap, flip cup, and others didn't go to anyone's head
because many would've played better if they were dead.
The party ended and the trip home was hard work,
especially having to safe ride with a driver that was a jerk
with hangovers impossible to avoid even drinking all water that flows
the next day out of bed they slowly rose.
none sprung to their feet, but all yelled if someone gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But you could hear them exclaim, as they drove out of sight-
Happy Alumni Weekend to all, and to all a good night.

he highlights/lowlights were

  • A rookie tried to tickle a Jared with hair during box
  • The Boston car made the full trip down
  • Hugs were flying left and right making Libby squirm uncomfortably
